Reading group: Russian Literature from the Margins
The Bell Pettigrew Museum, 5-7 pm (for dates see below)
This reading group is aimed at postgraduate students (but open to everyone!) interested in Russian literature.
We hope to address the concept of the ‘margins’ both physically and metaphorically by examining texts on the fringes of canonicity. Potential topics include texts written by non-Russian authors, war memoirs from the GDR and the works of neglected female writers but we encourage input and ideas from all attendees.
The texts will be read in translation and discussed together during the meetings.
Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided.
We hope to see you there!
27th of February:
In the first meeting, we will read from Julia Voznesenskaya’s collection of short stories ”The Women’s Decam
eron” (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1225688.The_Women_s_Decameron). We will start the discussion with The Fourth Day. You are welcome to pick an additional chapter that you would like to discuss with the group.
Please, contact email@example.com if you have trouble finding the text.
